Welcome to my unofficial department site!

The Hendricks County Reserve Division, which serves under the direction of the Reserve Division Commander Captain John Handcock, is comprised of volunteers who are sworn officers empowered by the Sheriff of Hendricks County to help preserve law and order in the county.
The Reserve Division has an authorized strength of sixteen officers.
To be a reserve deputy, an individual must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid Indiana drivers license, have no criminal record (minor traffic violations are exempt), and be a resident of the State of Indiana.
Upon completion of the 40 hour pre-basic academy, the reserve officer receives his/her equipment and uniform which is supplied by the Hendricks County Sheriff's Department and begins the F.T.O. program. This program consists of working a minimum of 32 eight hour shifts under the supervision of an approved merit field training officer. After certification by the field training supervisor and with the approval of the Division Commander and the Sheriff, the reserve officer is considered a road qualified reserve deputy who is expected to perform the same duties with the same professionalism as a merit officer.
While the investment in time and effort on the part of a reserve officer is great, the benefits gained in self-image, enhanced ability to deal with diverse people and situations, and increased awareness of community are well worth the sacrifice.
The Hendricks County Sheriff's Department Reserve Division is invaluable to the operation of the department. The officers provide extra manpower when needed, assist on special details, and enhance the ability of the Sheriff's Department to provide the best service possible to the citizens of Hendricks County.
